What’s driving stress and anxiety?
When faced with psychological or situational stressors, our body mounts a fight or flight response, which is normal in short bursts and is essential for protection and survival. Unfortunately, nowadays our body tends to be under constant exposure to different types of stressors all day long (mobile phone notifications, news, stimulants, toxins etc.) This results in chronically high circulating levels of stress hormones, leading to stress and symptoms of anxiety, the latter being the most predominant mental health problem worldwide.
Social and emotional wellbeing is highly dependent on our life experiences, the balance of certain brain chemicals or ‘neurotransmitters’, such as serotonin, dopamine, and GABA, and the quality of our nerve cells, all of which depend on good nutrition, especially on high quality B vitamins, vitamin D, magnesium, and essential fats.
However, our “on the go” and overstimulating Western lifestyles, demanding jobs, relationships, and chronic health issues, alongside unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, and certain genetic predispositions can affect our mental health and lead to increased stress and generalised anxiety disorder (GAD).
So we’ve created a range of dietary supplements, and identified some key nutritional and lifestyle tips, to help you ‘engage’ appropriately with your environment, be motivated and sociable, improve sleep quality and feel more relaxed.
