BioCare Education Series
Time to get to the core of human physiology this autumn as we take apart the complex subject of gut health and take a deep dive into the intricate world of the human microbiome. As always, we take the science, but distil it into practical protocols, exemplified by real case studies. And we have online and face to face events to suit your preference. Enjoy education from the comfort of your own home or have a day out to learn and network with other professionals in a friendly and welcoming environment! It’s CPD with a heart, and a fun side.
For 2023, we’ve added a few more dates to our ‘The Gut, Unravelled’ tour, as promised. And we will have a brand new roadshow and topic later on in the year.
The Gut, Unravelled - Dublin (4th October 2022)
Time to get to the core of all human physiology as we unravel the complex subject of gut health and its multifaceted links with other systems! Gut is our ‘outside inside’, the metabolic interface where two complex biological and chemical worlds interact in a dynamic, hybrid ecosystem, part human, part other. Its active barrier function enables it to play multiple roles sensing, defending, ingesting, detoxifying, and creating, such that gut impacts everything, and everything can impact the gut. In this seminar we examine the adaptive role of the gut, taking a holistic ecological perspective, touching on digestion, motility, integrity and microbial balance, using case study examples, and equipping you to take an effective whole system approach to improving clients’ health. 10-3pm. 4 hours CPD (BANT, ANP, NNA, NTOI). Drinks and snacks provided; lunch available to purchase locally.

Fats of the Matter - Webinar (8th February 2023)
We have an ongoing personal health ‘energy crisis’, brought about by modern diet and lifestyle. The resulting metabolic dysfunction from this persistent homeostatic challenge is a major contributing factor to a whole host of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative conditions. The media is full of theories about how we can improve this through paleo or keto diets, or even fasting. Alessandro Ferretti explores how some of the key players including diet, appetite, stress and reduced sleep have such a profound physiological effect. Why is obesity on the rise and what practical diet and lifestyle strategies can we employ with patients, to turn this crisis around? 2 hours Applied CPD (BANT, ANP, NNA, NTOI). Bacterial Relations - Exploring the relationship between the vaginal microbiome and female hormones
Webinar with Jules Cattell & Dr Golnoush Golshirazi from ScreenMe
There are intricate relations between the microbes in our gut, those in the vaginal canal & the female hormones. These complex biological ecosystems are in continuous communication with each other, maintaining reproductive health and hormone metabolism. But throughout a woman’s life, the balance of this delicate ecosystem can be easily disrupted by constant hormonal shifts during the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and menopause, as well as being affected by dietary habits, and use of cosmetics or medications. How do we encourage a robust and diverse vaginal microbiome to prevent and manage common vaginal infections? And how do we adapt our support to the challenges of hormonal fluctuations at different stages of a woman’s life?
In this webinar, Jules Cattell examines the crosstalk between the vaginal microbiome and female hormones, and discusses key nutritional protocols for vaginal infections such as bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis, whilst Dr Golnoush Golshirazi, the founder of ScreenMe, introduces us to vaginal health testing, exploring different types of testing available and their uses and limitations.

Circle of Life - Cardiff (18th May)
Live Seminar with Alessandro Ferretti & Marta Anhelush
It’s a circle of life, and it moves us all, through despair and hope…
We are living longer but are those final decades of our life spent in a state of health or disease? Are our bodies equipped to deal with the challenges of the modern world? We begin to die the moment we are born…The moment the egg meets the sperm, we enter an enormous phase of growth and development, all through to puberty. As soon as we move into our reproductive years, we face a slow decline in function and structure. The speed of that decline is heavily influenced by the interactions between our genes and our exposome which determine how well we age.
In this unique seminar, we will focus on the key factors influencing ageing, zooming in on neurodegeneration, cellular health, hormonal shifts, and structure. Using an in-depth case study, we will take you on a journey through those key clinical examples, whilst also showcasing some of the best genetic and metabolic testing available.
Date: Thursday 18th May 2023, 10.00am - 3.30pm

Venue: Cardiff Metropolitan University - Llandaff Campus
Location: Cardiff

Fast & Furious – Calming Down an Overactive Mind Webinar (27th Sept)
We live in a world of excess & overstimulation; busy lifestyles, multiple demands, long to do lists, high expectations, stimulants, highly palatable foods, technology, and constant notifications... Can our brains sustain that demand? Such stimulation leads to an upregulation of our sympathetic nervous response, raising our adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, glutamate & cortisol. If prolonged, because of an inability to return to a parasympathetic state, or perhaps because of slow neurotransmitter detoxification, it can put our nervous system into constant overdrive, often making us feel irritated, stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, unable to sleep, or even furious at times.
Our expert in this area, Alessandro Ferretti, will explore the key concepts, research, and nutritional and lifestyle interventions to support your clients with anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and addictive tendencies.
Date: Wednesday 27th September 2023, 10.00am
Speakers: Alessandro Ferretti
Format: Webinar
CPD: 2 hours applied CPD (BANT, ANP, NNA, NTOI)
Circle of Life - Brighton (3rd October)
