BioCare Education Series
Time to get to the core of human physiology this autumn as we take apart the complex subject of gut health and take a deep dive into the intricate world of the human microbiome. As always, we take the science, but distil it into practical protocols, exemplified by real case studies. And we have online and face to face events to suit your preference. Enjoy education from the comfort of your own home or have a day out to learn and network with other professionals in a friendly and welcoming environment! It’s CPD with a heart, and a fun side.

Circle of Life - Exeter (6th June)
Live Seminar with Alessandro Ferretti & Marta Anhelush
It’s a circle of life, and it moves us all, through despair and hope…
We are living longer but are those final decades of our life spent in a state of health or disease? Are our bodies equipped to deal with the challenges of the modern world? We begin to die the moment we are born…The moment the egg meets the sperm, we enter an enormous phase of growth and development, all through to puberty. As soon as we move into our reproductive years, we face a slow decline in function and structure. The speed of that decline is heavily influenced by the interactions between our genes and our exposome which determine how well we age.
In this unique seminar, we will focus on the key factors influencing ageing, zooming in on neurodegeneration, cellular health, hormonal shifts, and structure. Using an in-depth case study, we will take you on a journey through those key clinical examples, whilst also showcasing some of the best genetic and metabolic testing available.
Date: Tuesday 6th June 2023, 10.00am - 3.30pm
Speakers: Alessandro Ferretti & Marta Anhelush
Venue: Exeter Library
Location: Exeter
Format: Seminar
CPD: 4 hours applied CPD (BANT, ANP, NNA, NTOI)

The Gut, Unravelled - Webinar (20th June)
Live Webinar with Jules Cattell.
Time to get to the core of all human physiology as we unravel the complex subject of gut health and its multifaceted links with other systems! Gut is our ‘outside inside’, the metabolic interface where two complex biological and chemical worlds interact in a dynamic, hybrid ecosystem, part human, part other. Its active barrier function enables it to play multiple roles sensing, defending, ingesting, detoxifying, and creating, such that gut impacts everything, and everything can impact the gut. In this webinar, we examine the adaptive role of the gut, taking a holistic ecological perspective and focusing on the importance of digestion & absorption. We’ll specifically zoom in on the various digestive secretions like stomach acid, digestive enzymes & bile, using practical examples and clinical protocols to support general maldigestion, GERD, ulcers, and gallbladder dysfunction.

Fast & Furious – Calming Down an Overactive Mind Webinar (27th Sept)
We live in a world of excess & overstimulation; busy lifestyles, multiple demands, long to do lists, high expectations, stimulants, highly palatable foods, technology, and constant notifications... Can our brains sustain that demand? Such stimulation leads to an upregulation of our sympathetic nervous response, raising our adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, glutamate & cortisol. If prolonged, because of an inability to return to a parasympathetic state, or perhaps because of slow neurotransmitter detoxification, it can put our nervous system into constant overdrive, often making us feel irritated, stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, unable to sleep, or even furious at times.
Our expert in this area, Alessandro Ferretti, will explore the key concepts, research, and nutritional and lifestyle interventions to support your clients with anxiety, ADHD, OCD, and addictive tendencies.
Date: Wednesday 27th September 2023, 10.00am
Speakers: Alessandro Ferretti

Into The HumanVerse - Edinburgh (20th March 2024)
We are as much a part of nature as a butterfly or a daffodil, yet we have come to believe that human life is more precious than anything else. We divide the world into ‘us’ and ’them’, but we are inseparable from the environment. Together, we form a dynamic whole - our unique HumanVerse...
How does the body sense, depend on, adapt to, and modify in relation to the environment to be in harmony with it? The body has evolved very intelligent interfaces that form the connection between ‘us’ and ‘them’ to maintain health and continuous adaptation: nervous interface; processing an immense amount of data every second via all senses to make meaning of it, creating perception and adjusting our physical, physiological, and mental response; immune interface; interacting with endogenous and exogenous microbiomes, deciding what’s friend and what’s foe, influencing our health and evolution through genetic crosstalk; and finally, the detoxification interface; processing thousands of toxins every day from air pollutants, to chemicals in food, or mould in our homes and nature.
The robustness of the Nervous-Immune-Detox-Environment Interfaces is critical to our health right now, and to species survival in years to come. But in a world where physical interactions are replaced by those in the virtual realm, where beneficial nutrients are hugely outnumbered by harmful toxins, and where we face new immune challenges such as Covid-19 and other pathogens, whilst also facing microbiome loss and antibiotic resistance, can those interfaces withstand the challenge? If they don’t, we see autoimmunity, allergies, inflammation, multiple chemical sensitivities, mental health crises, cancer, and risk further maladaptation and more chronic disease in the decades to come.
How do you create a more favourable environment for your body and genetics to be at your best self? In this innovative and forward-looking seminar, we will delve into key related concepts such as life-load, the exposome, epigenetic and metabolomic changes, morphic resonance, A-HPA regulation, immune sensing, microbiome, detoxification, and more. Alongside this we’ll explore practical applications that you can use with all your clients and yourself, no matter your specialism.

Drug: Supplement Interactions Webinar (18th April 2024)
Webinar with Pharmacist & Nutritional Therapist, Jacqui Dougan, and BioCare Head of Clinical Nutrition, Marta Anhelush
Do you often find yourself scrolling through long lists of drug:nutrient interactions and end up even more confused? Most of our clients take at least 1 medication, not to mention the complex cases of polypharmacy we see a lot more often these days. Whilst working out the best therapeutic plan for our clients, we also have to ensure that the supplements we recommend are safe with medication, but many of us lack confidence in this complex area.
In this informative and practical webinar, Jacqui Dougan, a highly experienced Pharmacist & Nutritional Therapist, is going to explore drug:nutrient interactions and nutrient depletions for commonly used medications such as statins, blood thinners, antacids, antidiabetic, hormonal, and antidepressant medication, amongst others. To complement Jacqui’s theory, Marta will provide a helpful overview of key BioCare supplements that can be used alongside medications to support your clients safely and to avoid depletions and side effects.
IF YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO WATCH LIVE, A RECORDING WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ALL REGISTRANTS 24HRS LATER.

Into The HumanVerse - Cambridge (19th June 2024)

The Female Story: A journey through the menstrual cycle, fertility and menopause
At this exclusive, thought-provoking seminar, Jules Cattell will explore issues surrounding the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menopause. Weaving in the stories of her female colleagues and clients, she’ll equip you with the knowledge, inspiration, and hands-on nutritional and lifestyle protocols to work effectively with your female clients. To change their Female Stories, for the better.
For centuries the female story has been one of hardship, patriarchy, disadvantages, lack of healthcare and education. Many extraordinary and brave women have paved the way for our generations to enjoy the freedoms we have in our modern society. Yet still, in the 21st century, women are underrepresented in medical research, underdiagnosed, and facing many taboos; about their bodies, health, and sexuality.
Women grow up, pressured to fit into pre-defined female stories; ‘PMS is normal, get on with it, ‘Every woman has maternal instincts, they’ll come’, ‘Menopause is an oestrogen deficiency, we need to treat it’. And each woman has a unique story to tell.
… of their excruciating pain every month that took 15 years to be diagnosed as endometriosis, of their silent grief after several miscarriages, of their emotional rollercoaster during perimenopause…
These pre-defined female stories, crafted by a society that lacks the education surrounding women’s health, have shaped the anxiety, self-doubt and helplessness experienced by women. From dismissal of symptoms to waiting years for a diagnosis, a new era of female stories needs to be defined.
Join us this Autumn at our award-winning education seminar series to inspire, educate and empower women to have better life experiences. To open the dialogue out to wider society and to change the narrative around women’s health; inspiring a new generation of positive Female Stories

Endometriosis & PCOS Masterclass - 3rd December
This autumn we are sharing some poignant stories of women suffering from a variety of female health issues. Stories that showcase the sad reality of pain, fatigue, depression, grief, and shame that some women go through. This includes women with endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) who may wait several years for a diagnosis and are sometimes ignored on their journey, grappled by symptoms that make their lives unbearable. At the same time, whether from a medical or holistic perspective, the management of both conditions can be oversimplified; focusing on insulin resistance in PCOS, or ‘oestrogen dominance’ in endometriosis. Through their wealth of knowledge and clinical experience, our expert speakers understand the multifactorial presentation of these conditions and will share in-depth information about the pathophysiology, common drivers, genetic influences, and effective nutritional strategies you can use with your clients.
Join this webinar for a masterclass on endometriosis, presented by Emma Dawson who specialises in female health including menopause, PMS, endometriosis and amenorrhea as well as eating disorders, and PCOS presented by Emilia Papadopoullos who has a personal and clinical experience with PCOS and is also known as an expert on acne.

Venue: Exeter Library
Location: Exeter

IF YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO WATCH LIVE, A RECORDING WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ALL REGISTRANTS 24HRS LATER.

Speakers: Alessandro Ferretti & Marta Anhelush
Venue: University of Reading, Whiteknights Campus
Location: Reading

In this workshop, we will discuss key product solutions to support the nervous system & mental health, and provide you with flexible options to put together a personalised protocol for your clients and customers with ease and confidence. We will also touch on the important, yet somewhat confusing topic of methylation, busting some myths and sharing our top tips on how & when to use methylated supplements.
